FUSED CAST REFRACTORIES FOR REHEATING
FURNACES
KORVISIT-A
Since 1957, the beginning of the production of
fused cast alpha-corundum blocks, KORVISIT-A has been well known
as refractory and wear resistant lining of reheating furnaces.
KORVISIT-A blocks are successfully used as skid rails as well
as soaking zone bottom of heavy duty pusher-type furnaces reheating
ingots. Main advantage of KORVISIT-A is its resistance to mechanical
effects in warm condition.
KORVISIT-A can be used as supporting element or for lining exit
chutes in up-to-date walking beam furnaces. For protection of
the traverse beam mechanism against thermal shocks, insulating
and refractory masses of the proper quality can be used.
As the material to be heated is moved solely
on KORVISIT-A, the less dense and mechanically not so durable
monolithics are protected from wear. With the combination of both
type of materials it is possible to achieve long furnace campaigns
and avoid repairing of the monolithics very often.
KORVISIT-AM
In order to meet changing requirements of the
steel industry, we have developed a new product sold under the
name KORVISIT-AM. Concerning its composition, KORVISIT-AM is the
same material as KORVISIT-A, its production is carried out according
to the same technology. The only difference is that KORVISIT-AM
blocks undergo a treatment before the annealing process which
prevents the formation of a bigger cavity and a porous part forms
instead of it. An inner discoloration occurs due to the treatment
and the density of the shapes slightly decreases. However, these
blocks are less rigid, while their wear resistance does not change
and their heat shock and impact resistance improves.
